6 Benefits of Blogging for Business
Does your business need a blog? What are the benefits for the business if we have a blog? Both are very valid questions and only 2 of many that most business owners will have when deciding if you will invest in a blog for your business website. A high-quality blog can be an influential business tool. Many advantages of blogging for business include boosting client numbers and driving sales while reinforcing your brand and identity as an industry expert. This blog will cover just some of the main benefits below, so if you are thinking of investing in a business blog, be sure to read on!
1.) Build Relationships
The way we do business has changed over the last 2 decades, and although people have always bought from people, it is becoming ever increasingly important that businesses build relationships with their client base. Building a customer community has been shown to increase trust, sales, and footfall in almost all business sectors. An excellent way to help build that community is a blog.
2.) Reinforce Your Brand
Building a brand is about much more than just picking a name, logo and colour scheme. Your brand has a voice and its own way of “doing business”. This can be anything from an ethical stance to how you sell your products, and what better way to show off this brand voice than with a blog? A well-written blog will allow you to convey more than any headline or tagline will; it will enable you to go deeper and really get across your voice and stance on many things.
3.) Boost Your Search Engine Positioning
Gone are the days of just adding a few keywords to a page or even worse – adding thousands of keywords to a page, and boom, you were high ranking in the search engines, and the job was done. SEO has become much more complex as it has evolved, and search engines such as Google only want the best sites to appear on page one. Part of this is called “search intent”. This has increasingly become about providing high-quality content that directly addresses the search being performed instead of just adding lots of keywords.
Blogs allow you to cover subjects much more in-depth and cover a broader range of relating keywords/questions that your target client base is searching for, giving you a better chance of having a share of the traffic that those searches bring.
4.) Target Specific Clients
Blogs, as mentioned above, allow you to target a wider audience and bring them to your website. Think about how we all use search engines – how many of us just use one-word search terms? Everyone uses them differently, but most of us ask them questions we want to answer. We will all ask it slightly different from each other. A well thought out blog addresses this and expands your website to a broader audience that could be looking for goods/services just like yours but in a less traditional way of a one-word Google search.
5.) Website Traffic
Unless you have thousands of pounds to spend every month on adverts, SEO, and social media, it is unlikely that you will be seen by every ideal customer there is out there for your business. Ads can get expensive and social media reach can be lost almost overnight through no fault of your own. Blogs help plug that gap by helping with your SEO efforts, increasing the number of visitors to your website. The increased traffic can lead to increased conversions (sales, contact form submissions, etc.), the end goal of any successful blogging campaign.
6.) Increase Sales
Done right a good business blog will:
- Increase your website traffic.
- Build your brand.
- Bring in more targeted customers.
- Boost your SEO efforts.
- Build relationships and trust.
All of which will boost your overall sales and increase revenue for your business. Which, let us be honest – is the aim of all business owners!
Quick Tip: Blogs should not always be about sales. Aim to build connections and give advice, even address concerns that people might have with your products/services. In doing so, you build trust in your brand and become a trusted source in your niche. This then makes that relationship between you and the reader, and they are more likely to want to purchase from you.
Guys, if blogging is so brilliant, why isn’t everyone doing it? The truth is that not everyone has the time or the inclination to do it, as it is not a one time task and nor will it instantly boost sales like, say, PPC will. It takes a lot of time and effort to get it right, but the rewards will always outlast the efforts. PPC, for instance, is a one-click one charge, then it is done. Blogs will be there working hard for you for years to come helping your business grow and grow with it, but it is not an instant solution.
