Shopify Fees And Shopify Pricing Plans: Which Is Best For Your Business?
Shopify is the go-to content management system for eCommerce store owners and is used by some of the worlds leading brands such as Heinz, Gym Shark and others. If you have been thinking about launching your online store using Shopify, you might be thinking about which level of plan you need from Shopify, and here at Morgan Branding, we know it can be confusing, and getting it wrong could cost your business a lot of money. Morgan Branding has put together this blog to help you see the difference between each pricing plan and which will be best suited to your business.
How Much Is Shopify Per Month?
Depending on what you need from your Shopify eCommerce store will depend on the level of subscription you need. Prices range from $9 and go right up to and beyond $2,000 per month. We have broken them down below*:
- Fee: $29/month
- Payment processing fee: 2.2% + 20p
- Additional fees using payment provider other than Shopify Payments: 2.0% (in addition to the payment providers fees)
- Fee: $79/month
- Payment processing fee: 1.9% + 20p
- Additional fees using payment provider other than Shopify Payments: 1.0% (in addition to the payment providers fees)
- Fee: $299/month
- Payment processing fee: 1.6% + 20p
- Additional fees using payment provider other than Shopify Payments: 0.5% (in addition to the payment providers fees)
- Fee: prices on request but starting at approximately $2,000/month
*Shopify always charge in USD, so it is hard to give an exact price in GDP as the exchange rate is continually fluctuating, so we have provided all the prices here in USD.
Which Shopify Pricing Plan Is Best For Me?
Choosing the right Shopify pricing plan for you is relatively easy, and the good news is that Shopify makes it super simple to scale up to another level if and when you need to.
Shopify Lite: It is $9 per month and is designed for those who want to add a small eCommerce functionality to their existing site. It works on almost all platforms such as Wix, WordPress and Squarespace. It adds the ability to add buy buttons or links to enable purchases without needing a full blow eCommerce solution. It is suitable for those who maybe only have 10 products or less; anything more than that and a total eCommerce solution will be needed.
Basic Shopify: If you are looking for an online store but only want the basics of what Shopify offers, then the basic plan is the one for you. It includes Shopify hosting, unlimited products, SSL certificate, blog functions and 24/7 support.
Shopify: Everything in the Shopify basic plan but with added features such as email marketing and abandoned cart functions that aid your digital marketing and also added benefit of reduced payment handling fees.
Advanced Shopify: Everything in the basic and Shopify plans and then additions such as third party shipping calculations, advanced reporting, and further reduced payment handling fees.
Shopify Plus: is for enterprise-level businesses that need something completely bespoke and integrated with existing supply chain parameters.
Those are very high-level explanations of what each package offers to give you an idea of the one that suits you and your business. With each level, there is the benefit of the payment processing fees reducing which if you are selling enough products it can cover the additional monthly subscription fees.
